A LABOUR councillor from Bridgwater joined hundreds of people from the town in a massive London march demanding more jobs and fewer cuts.

Cllr Leigh Redman of Dunwear ward was among more than 150,000 walking from central London to a Trade Union Congress (TUC) rally in Hyde Park.

Families, public sector workers, jobless, disabled people and others united behind the slogan, ‘A Future that Works’.

Cllr Redman said: “I can see this issue from many sides and there is no way forward because austerity isn’t working.

“As the TUC say, we should encourage companies to raise average pay, penalise big bonuses and invest in training and new industries.

“Rather than deep, rapid spending cuts we need to reverse our decline and build an economy that works for ordinary people.”

Its a pity Labour wern't a bit more keen on a "Future That Works" in all the years they were in government.
