'Peak oil' meeting in Taunton
A NEW group aiming to tackle climate change and the depletion of our resources meets for the first time in Taunton next week.
Transition Towns aims to work with Somerset communities to make positive moves to increase resilience to falling oil levels.
Victoria Watson and Mike McGuffie are holding the meeting at Silver Street Baptist Church at 7.30pm on Monday, March 31.
There will be a talk on Peak Oil, Climate Change and Transition Towns: The problem, the solution and the way forward'.
Ms Watson said: "We are looking to reach out to all those people who are concerned by these issues and want to contribute in some way to working towards a better future for all of us."
Meanwhile, Friends of the Earth are staging a climate change awareness event on
Saturday, April 5, when members dressed as polar bears and aeroplanes will patrol the streets of Taunton from 10.30am-12.30pm.
