About this neighbourhood

map

Okehampton Rural East consists of a widely rural patch with the two main towns being North Tawton and Chagford plus many pretty villages and hamlets in between.

Spreyton, which is one of those villages, won an award for being the best kept small village in 2006.

ChagfordChagford is an ancient stannary town in the heart of Dartmoor and is a thriving community with an olde worlde character. For more information on Chagford click on the picture.

North TawtonNorth Tawton is an ancient village situated on the east side of the Taw Valley – this friendly town is slowly expanding in size and it is the home of the BBC series ‘Jam and Jerusalem’.  For more information on North Tawton click on the picture.

Okehampton Rural East is a safe place to live with very few serious incidents of crime occurring. We work alongside partner agencies to provide a high level of service to our residents.

The main problems are antisocial behaviour, spontaneous incidents of vandalism and – in the more rural locations – thefts of garden machinery and farm equipment.

You are welcome to contact me with any comments or concerns you may have about your neighbourhood and we will endeavour to respond to your local policing needs.

The force responsible for policing and crime prevention in this area is Devon & Cornwall Police.
