IN a change to the published programme, a French film about two abnormally shy people will be screened by the Regal Film Society in Minehead on Tuesday, April 10 at 7.30pm.
Romantics Anonymous sees Jean-René (Benoit Poelvoorde), the boss of a small chocolate factory, meet gifted chocolate maker Angélique (Isabelle Carre) who shares his common passion and common disability - pathological shyness. As each day finds them in a permanent state of stage fright, will they overcome their debilitating shyness and find true love?
The director and co-writer Jean-Pierre Améris himself suffers from hyper-emotionalism, and touchingly depicts the condition in an offbeat romance packed with bittersweet humour and charm.
Tickets for the subtitled film, which is open to film society members and their guests, may be booked in advance by calling 01643-706430 and cost £2.50 for members and £4.50 for guests. Fresh Miles coffee, wine and cake from Toucan Wholefoods will be available from 7pm onwards.
