ARE you normal? Prepare to find out as JINX Physical Theatre Company brings their debut show A State of Being to the Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre on Saturday, May 7.

Showcasing new work by dance practitioner Jenny Copping and dramatist Michelle McVeigh, the show seeks to raise awareness of mental health issues amongst young people and set about challenging the stigma surrounding metal health conditions.

The show also features up-and-coming young performers and youth groups, showcasing work by Connect, SPACE_D, and students from Heathfield Community School, who have devised short performance pieces that explore what it is like to be young and deal with mental health issues.

Crafted from hundreds of real-life case studies and interviews with real young people who have direct experience of mental health issues, A State of Being fuses dance and drama to explore the harrowing and humorous experiences that can result from mental health issues. As well as their performance at the Tacchi-Morris on May , JINX Physical Theatre Company will also be running workshops with local schools and colleges to explore issues raised in the performance.

The production has been developed in partnership with Re-think, Young Minds and the Healthy Schools initiative.

A State of Being starts at 7.30pm. For tickets call 01823 414141 or visit www.tacchi-morris.com
