Taunton actor takes the stage

TAUNTON born actor James Garland is set to hit the stage in his first professional theatre role in London.

James has recently graduated from the acting degree course at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London and will play the part of Soranzo in Tis Pity She's A Whore, John Ford's classic tragedy of passion, madness, murder and sibling incest.

James said: “I am extremely excited to be working on this classic play and cannot wait to put to use my three years training.

“I feel very fortunate to have got this role straight out of drama school.”

The show is being staged by Baseless Fabric Theatre Company, directed by Joanna Turner, and runs at the White Bear Theatre, Kennington from July 21 to August 9.

While in Taunton James was a member of The Brewhouse Young Theatre Company, Taunton Thespians, Curzon Productions, Taunton Amateur Operatic Society and Somerset Opera.
