THE audience at a production of Jesus Christ Superstar will get a unique vantage point during the show in Bridgwater.

St Mary’s Church will be the venue for the production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic musical this Easter, which features a unique ‘on-set’ experience, with the audience sitting inside the set as the show is performed around them.

"They will be wowed by powerful rock numbers, beautiful ballads and sensationally written musical theatre pieces as they are transported through the life and death of the last week of Jesus Christ," said a spokesperson for the show.

"Told through the eyes of Judas Iscariot, played by Ben Filler this Rock Opera is a dramatic masterpiece only made better by its 13th Century setting.

"Watchers will be close enough to look into the eyes of Judas and he wrestles with betraying Christ, they will be able to experience the full force of the execution of Jesus in full technicolour provided by Andrew Scammell and Martin Wasley.

"They will hear, close up, the anguish of Mary Magdalene played by Jess Godfrey in the iconic song ‘I don’t know how to love him’ made famous by Sarah Brightman, with sound from Nick Bell.

"They will experience the emotional rollercoaster that Jesus felt, played by Simon Thomas-Boddy, as he was betrayed by those he held most dear and sent to his death in a sacrifice that would echo to this very day."

The show runs on March 7 and 8, from 7.30pm. For more details and to book, call Simon Thomas-Boddy on 07725 315042, or email ymtcgroup@gmail.com.
