A GROUP of the world’s most talented singing students are staging a special evening of song at Ilminster Arts Centre on Saturday, February 25.

The singers, who are all studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, will perform an accessible and entertaining programme of arias and ensembles from well-known operas and operettas, including favourites from Mozart, Strauss, and Gilbert & Sullivan.

Based in the Welsh capital Cardiff, The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, educates some of the most talented students from the UK.

Recent graduates from the RWCMD have secured principal work with English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, Opera North, Scottish Opera and Glyndebourne.

The college’s events calendar encompasses over 300 public performances every year and this one-off concert at Ilminster Arts Centre is an exciting opportunity to hear the high standard of music achieved by the college without leaving Somerset.

This concert will showcase the talents of RWCMD students Christine Byrne, Conal Bembridge-Sayers, Dragos Ionel, Lucy Mellors, Matthew Clark and Rachel Goode.

All are extremely experienced young singers and actors and they are all following postgraduate courses on the pathway to successful professional careers.

They will perform solos as well as ensembles, and the programme will include much-loved pieces from Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado and The Gondoliers.

The concert starts at 7.30pm on February 25 and tickets costing £14 are available now.

Advance booking is strongly recommended.
