THE Beachcomber in Brean is holding a right royal event to celebrate a very special birthday.

The popular venue will host a traditional tea dance next month to mark the Queen’s official 90th birthday.

Called, Strictly Come Beachcombery, it will be the chance to enjoy an afternoon tea while tripping the light fantastic.

Richard Lewis, General Manager at The Beachcomber, said: “Everyone is welcome at our tea dance fit for a Queen, which we’ve organised to mark Her Majesty’s official 90th birthday.

“We’ll be encouraging people to get up and try ballroom dancing in true Strictly style – but don’t worry, we won’t be scoring you. It’s just for fun and all ages are welcome.

“You don’t need any experience at all, as we’re teaming up with a professional to show you the moves.”

Julie Purdie from PJ’s Dance Academy will provide music and instruction for ballroom dancing at the event.

Julie founded PJ’s Dance Academy with her husband, Peter in 2003. They offer social dance classes and private tuition in the Somerset area.

Richard continued: “We’ll also be providing free tea and biscuits for customers throughout the afternoon.

“As always with our events programme, it is free entry and those interested can simply turn up and enjoy the festivities.”

The Beachcomber is Warren Farm Holiday Centre’s clubhouse. It has a modern cabaret bar, family restaurant and children’s entertainment room.

Strictly Come Beachcomber will take place at The Beachcomber on Saturday, June 11 from 1pm until 4pm.
