SOME of Bridgwater's top talent will battle it out this month to find the star of the future.

Singers and bands will step up to the mic at the final of the Eclectic Battles competition at the Bridgwater Arts centre.

The top prize is the chance to support theRenowned For Sound’s 2014 One to Watch: Hunter And The Bear. t.

The competition will be judged by three music industry professionals including Larry Dart (Radio Present at Pulse FM), Nate Taylor (Independent PR and Music Consultant at Brightspark PR), third judge TBC.

The event is being organised by music and live events agency, Boomsatsuma Presents.

The finalists are:

Finches Fly, an alternative rock trio from Shepton Mallet. The band formed at junior school and played their first paid gig 3 years ago aged just 14, since then they have built themselves on the music scene including performing on a packed out stage at Glastonbury Calling Festival.

Burnout-13, is a pop-punk band from Taunton. With influences such as Greenday, Blink 182 and the Sex Pistols. These three lads, who moonlight as another band under the name Sunset Sunday, are sure to give the other bands a run for their money having already performed at The Fleece, one of Bristol’s top venues for live music.

Benjamin Franklin is a singer/songwriter from Somerset, he has been working on producing his own electronic music, incorporating a mix of styles as well as honing his piano and vocal skills.

Emily Perkins won her place in the final through the power of her melodic voice and carefully crafted acoustic style. Currently attending Haygrove Secondary School in Bridgwater, Emily is one of our youngest contestants with amazing confidence and prowess with a guitar.
