IT’S as Christmas as mince pies and just as warming and satisfying. Raymond Briggs’ magical Christmas story about a snowman who comes to life is given that unique touch by the Brewhouse, Taunton, aided by the award-winning Southern Sinfonia.

The theatre has two very special performances of The Snowman to get even the saddest Grinch in the holiday mood.

On Sunday, November 22, local schoolchildren will sing live in the theatre’s main house, accompanied by a 27-piece Orchestra (courtesy of Southern Sinfonia) while the film is shown on screen.

Emma Webber, marketing manager for The Brewhouse and Southern Sinfonia, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to bring together our resident professional orchestra for the first time since their sell-out inaugural concert in early October, with what is probably the most popular Christmas children’s story of all time.

“The children that are taking part in this are truly remarkable, and all parts combined, it does make for something quite magical.”

Other icy treats that will also be performed include Let it Go from Disney’s Frozen and older classics such as Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker and Musical Sleigh-Ride by Leopold Mozart.
