THE Bridgwater Amateur Operatic Society has been nominated for three prestigious Rose Bowl awards for their production of Hairspray.
The nominations were for Best Musical, Best Actress (Leah Farmer for her portrayal of Tracy Turnblad) and Coup de Theatre for the moving scene involving Natasha Green as Motormouth Maybelle and back projection of 1960’s segregation protests in the USA.
The results will be announced at a ceremony on October 18 The Webbington Hotel and Spa. Chairman of the society, Mike Dodden, said that the nominations were hugely deserved and praised all the cast and creative team for a truly outstanding production.
The society is already planning its next production, Annie, to be staged next April 2016 at the McMillan Theatre. Workshops and auditions will take place starting Monday November 30. More details from director Sue Pomeroy on 01278 662181.
