In 1942, an American Bomber crashed in Porlock Marsh, killing 11 people. Only one, a staff sergeant, survived.

This war-time tragedy is the inspiration behind a new local dance project that's taking place in the landscape in and around Porlock Vale.

It comes from the Stacked Wonky Dance Company which is based in Bossington near Porlock.

Sarah Shorten, the company's artistic director, has created Liberator which is a series of five separate outdoor site specific dance episodes which will take place at five different sites - Glade, Field, Barn, Hill and Marsh - from late July to mid September.

The performers all live in Porlock Vale and include an adult dancer (ex Royal Ballet) and four local children aged between 5 and 8 years old.

The first performances will take place on July 25 and 26, with performances at the four remaining sites will take place in August and September. To create and deliver the project, the company is working closely with several partners including The Crown Estate, National Trust at Holnicote Estate, Porlock Estate, Exmoor National Park and the Porlock Arts Festival.
