THE County Gazette caught up with budding musicians A Night With Lions recently to talk all things music and see what's next for the current Richard Huish College students.

Peter Manders (guitar and vocals), Jacob Pye (keyboard and vocals), Jack Dixon (drums) and Chris Vickery (bass) make up the band, originating from the Crewkerne, Ilminster and Seavington areas.

The lads met as youngsters at Swanmead Community School and soon began plotting their dream for stardom.

Jack said: “It was me and Jacob at the start; I was just pretty keen on looking really cool in a band and stuff.”

Jacob: “Peter played guitar and I played piano at the time so we thought that we might get together and make a little group just for fun; that was about four or five years ago now.”

The group's recent performance saw them entertaining a crowd at Taunton-based venue Apple and Parrot, on Hallowe'en, and the band are busy organising more upcoming events.

They said: “We've been gigging on and off since then, the biggest gig we've done so far would probably be Party by the Parrett.

“It's more of a career really; I don't think any of us are really thinking about going to university after college. We've started taking it quite seriously and we're definitely looking at it for the future.

“When we send out messages to venues to get gigs, we describe our music as alternative with elements of electronic and rock incorporated.

“We've been told we're quite a lot like Muse, obviously we use keyboards so we're not very similar to many other actual hard rock bands.”
