ON Saturday, October 25, Taunton's Rivertones Chorus organised a variety show with guests, Red Rock Harmony and the Taunton Ukulele Strummers Club, which proved to be a huge success.

Red Rock Harmony opened the show with some brilliant singing and harmonising with Fields of Gold outstanding.

Taunton Ukulele Strummers Club really impressed with some wonderful singing and playing their own version of Five Foot Two and Wonder Of You.

The Rivertones appeared in flash mob style, singing Catch a Falling Star. The up-tempo Hello Mary Lou was very popular and the highlight of the first half was a haunting performance of Can You Feel The Love Tonight.

TUSC opened the second half with a show-stopping medley with Hi Ho Silver Lining particularly well received and exited to a great ovation.

Red Rock Harmony then sang a section containing the contrasting emotive In My Room and up-beat Nine 'til Five.

The Rivertones gave an outstanding rendition of If I Give My Heart to You before joining Red Rock for eight part songs, And So To Sleep and I Wonder Why.

Finally all groups sang Amarillo, with Peter Gover, amazingly, conducting the groups and capacity audience in a brilliant finale. The standing ovation was a deserved end to a magnificent evening.

The Rivertones were delighted to receive £400 to donate to Taunton Street Pastors.

Special thanks go to Jude Hawman, of Red Rock, Steve Power, of TUSC, and to director Murray Porter and producer Graham Blight for ensuring the show happened.
