WARTIME nostalgia is being celebrated in old knees-up fashion in a musical performance called Smile! Smile! Smile! at Halsway Manor, near Crowcombe.
Historical musicians Blast from the Past are putting on the performance of songs from the First World War to mark the 100th anniversary of its outbreak.
The show features a mixture of soldiers’ songs, music hall numbers and war poems set to new music and original compositions.
Smile! Smile! Smile! does not flinch from conveying the full horror of the war, but it also celebrates the courage and humour of the soldiers who were under fire and the folks at home.
Audience members are invited to go along and sing to the wartime classics such as ‘Pack Up Your Troubles’, ‘Tipperary’ and ‘Goodbye-ee’.
Smile! Smile! Smile! will be performed on Wednesday, October 22.
Tickets cost £8/2 from Viv Butler on 01984-6182774 or email office@halswaymanor.org.uk
