THE Wurzels’ feel-good concert to raise money for, and the spirits of, Somerset’s flood victims, gets in full swing at The Palace in Bridgwater on Thursday March 20.

The West Country favourites fixed the date at the height of the flooding devastation, and are looking forward to giving those affected a good time.

Wurzel old-timer and accordion-playing pianist, Tommy Banner, urged Mercury readers: “We’d love everyone to come along and support a very good cause.

“We’re doing it for everybody involved – and not only people in their houses, but farmers and businesses – especially having only just ‘got back’ after last year’s floods. You hear stories that touch the heart strings.

“What’s more, a lot of people who support us are from the Bridgwater area – we want to show our support back.

“We’d just love everyone to come along and have a good evening at The Palace.”

Every penny raised by Tommy, Pete, John and Sedge’s show of support, will go to the Somerset Flood Relief Fund and the Agricultural Benevolent Fund Institution.

Mad Dog Mcrea, the Devonshire gypsy-jazz crew, who know how to rouse a crowd, are in support.

Both bands, their teams, The Palace, Bridgwater Carnival, plus Apr Media and Midnight Mango, and giving up their services for free.

Tickets cost £12.50 from Strings ’n’ Things, West Quay Records, Bar Brunel and The Palace, or online at www.midnightmango.co.uk, SeeTickets, TicketWeb and Gigantic.

Tickets for The Palace’s original April 17 Wurzels’ gig are now valid for Thursday. Doors open at 8pm.
