Chris Pratt showed he is a hero in real life as well as on the big screen when he dressed up as his Guardians Of the Galaxy character to visit patients at a children's hospital.

The actor was in full Star-Lord attire as he spent time with youngsters at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, where he signed autographs, took photos and handed out toys. He also let some of the children try on his movie outfit as thrilled parents snapped pictures.

Patients, their families and staff were also treated to a special screening of the movie, reported E! News.

Afterwards Chris, 35, went to visit some of the children who had been too unwell to watch the film.

The hospital later tweeted: "Star Lord (@prattprattpratt) cheered up our patients by sharing #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy! Thanks for making them smile!"

The visit was organised by Marvel and Children's Miracle Network Hospital.
