Former Coronation Street actor Sean Wilson has won a lucrative contract for his cheese-making business, it has been reported.

Wilson, who played Martin Platt in the ITV1 soap for 20 years, will supply a range of Lancashire cheeses to nationwide discount store B&M Bargains.

Since leaving the show in 2005 he has set up the Saddleworth Cheese Company, worked on a Channel 5 cookery show and published a book entitled the Great Northern Cookbook.

Wilson said he was proud of his cheese selection.

"It's for people who don't get a lot of time to cook, who don't necessarily go into high end supermarkets but don't want to compromise on quality," he told the Sunday Mirror.

When asked if he would ever return to Corrie, he said: " I'd never say never, but I enjoyed working on the show in the heyday of 16 million viewers."
