Greg Davies is to play a teacher in Man Down
The Inbetweeners star Greg Davies is going back to school to play a teacher again in his very own sitcom.
The comedian - who played the ferocious Mr Gilbert in the hit show - writes and stars as disillusioned teacher Dan, who hates his job, in a pilot for Channel 4 called Man Down, The Sun reports.
Nerys Evans, Channel 4's comedy commissioning editor, said: "Greg is in more ways than one a giant of British comedy. He has managed to write a joyfully funny, laugh-out-loud script. We're thrilled to be working with him on his first solo piece."
Greg, 44, taught secondary school drama and English for 13 years before quitting to start a successful career in comedy, and the show is inspired by his own experiences.
Greg is starting a new national stand-up tour called The Back Of My Mum's Head in October.
His debut stand-up tour Firing Cheeseballs At A Dog sold out and was extended three times.
