Allotment exhibition at Beside The Wave

Beside The Wave art gallery in Falmouth is hosting “Down at the allotments” by Emma Dunbar.
Revisiting the theme that she had started to explore nearly ten years ago, Emma has focused on allotment gardens as the pivotal subject for this collection, her only solo show for 2012.
Observing life on allotments throughout the seasons, the exhibition offers a captivating window into these quiet, private places that hold a timeless charm.
Paintings in the collection chart the changing seasons as different aspects of the allotments come to the fore. Arrangement of colour and shape take precedence over pictorial content with the results bordering on abstract. Built up in an assembly of layers, recognisable details do appear and it is often the inclusion of a bird, spade or fork that will anchor the compositions.
The exhibition runs at the Falmouth gallery from August 17-29.
