Cornwall’s award winning Miracle Theatre will celebrate 40 years of stage productions next month with a new 55-date open air tour.
To mark its anniversary year the theatre company is staging the comic escapade A Perfect World.
Written and directed by Bill Scott, with original music by Tom Adams, it tells the story of a feisty young woman venturing into a ‘Boy’s Own’ world of undiscovered jungles, treasure maps, campfires and penknives.
Whilst leading her team of quarrelsome explorers on an action packed adventure she stumbles upon a bountiful paradise, where inhabitants seem entirely peaceful, productive and fulfilled. Is this tranquil place the best of all possible worlds - or is it all too good to be true?
Bill said: “People have dreamt of Utopias since the earliest times and world literature contains many weird and wonderful variations of possible perfect worlds.
“There have been various attempts to build real-life Utopian communities, but they invariably have one thing in common: a ‘perfect’ world comes at a price.
“It’s a wonderfully rich theme, especially when linked to the popular genre of exploration and adventure – think Indiana Jones meets Doctor Who!”
Bill has assembled a strong cast of Miracle regulars - Benjamin Dyson, Ben Kernow, Rose McPhilemy, Dan Richards and Hannah Stephens - who are looking forward to leading this hair-raising adventure through undiscovered lands.
The tour begins on June 8 and runs until August 24. Visit miracletheatre.co.uk for tickets, dates and venues.
