The historic farmstead of Kestle Barton above the Helford River will provide the backdrop for a programme of work by UK composers on Sunday, May 21.

The Kevos programme of concerts will feature striking works of music in two performances, at 3pm and 6pm,

The schedule features the world premiere of Jim Aitchison's (Ensembles) Together and Apart, Flux by Alison Kay and Phoenix by Richard Causton, as well as the UK premiere of Upflight of Butterflies by Charlotte Bray.

Light and motion in music are at the heart of the programme: Jim Aitchison’s Together and Apart was commissioned by Kevos and features sounds and silences in hypnotic sequence.

Flux by Alison Kay moves from restraint and enigma toward a dramatic climax, and Richard Causton’s Phoenix has light and fire in its delicate melodies and grand gestures, while the dramatic effects of sunlight through cloud inspired Upflight of Butterflies.

Charlotte Bray said: "Inspiration grew from natural light in various forms: sunlight burning through dense clouds, piercing glimpse of blinding light catching your eye as you rush through the air."

Tickets are £15, including a glass of wine, for more information go to kestlebarton.co.uk
