Internationally renowned vocalist and BBC Radio 3 presenter, Claire Martin, and legendary saxophonist and singer, Ray Gelato will play at Hall for Cornwall on Friday, February 3, with their new show A Swingin’ Affair.
Celebrating the release of their album We’ve Got a World That Swings, described by The Observer as “jazz artistry,” these much celebrated and respected artists will take to the stage to explore the Great American Songbook.
Alongside a world-class trio of musicians, Claire and Ray will revisit classics such as Let's Call the Whole Thing Off, They Can’t Take That Away from Me, They All Laughed and Can’t We Be Friends.
Claire Martin has spent the last 29 years honing the craft of jazz singing. To worldwide critical acclaim, she has established herself as a tour de force on the UK jazz scene, gaining many awards including winning the British Jazz Awards seven times for best vocalist and best new recording. In 2011, she was awarded an OBE for her services to jazz.
Claire will be joined on stage by legendary saxophonist and singer Ray Gelato. With 25 years in the business he’s scooped a number of awards and nominations, including Ronnie Scott’s Best Male
Artist, BBC Jazz Artist Of The Year, plus a nomination for BBC Radio 2 Jazz Artist Of The Year.
