A seasoned Jazz musician is set to play a duo of gigs in Cornwall as part of a UK tour as part of a new musical project.

As experimental and varied as his subject material, jazz man Dave Manington has played under many guises and with scores of veteran jazz pros.

Boasting an impressive portfolio from working as a session musician and a string of successful albums from solo projects, there are few who come more experienced than Dave.

Now, residents of Cornwall have the opportunity to see “jazz royalty”, when Dave comes to the St Ives Jazz Club and the Restormel Arts Centre in St Austell on February 21 and 22.

Bassist and composer Dave Manington has played with Julian Arguelles, Marius Neset, Gwilym Simcock, Mark Lockheart, Tim Garland, Iain Ballamy and Gwyneth Herbert to name a few.

A founding member of the Loop collective, Dave released two modern-jazz records in his career, to critical acclaim.

His debut quartet album “Headrush” was released on Loop Records in 2008, which was followed by a release from his new project, Riff Raff, in 2013.

Now, Dave is touring with Riff Raff and will be playing two shows in Cornwall this February.

Jazz aficionados can see Riff Raff playing at the St Ives Jazz Club on February 21, and the Restormel Arts Centre in St Austell on February 22.
