LOCAL reggae fusion favourites and Falmouth |regulars, Backbeat Soundsystem have their eyes on the charts with the release of a new single, Losing Faith.
Recorded at the Cube studios near Truro, the track was recorded and mixed by singer Dean Forrest.
Dean said: “I usually have a clear idea of how I want a track to sound right from the beginning, and the easiest way to achieve that is if we keep all the production and mixing in house... plus I really enjoy the process of building a track in the studio and |hearing the sounds in your head come to life.”
The single was released in October on the band’s own label and is available as a free download from http://backbeatsoundsystem.bandcamp.com Losing Faith follows on from last year’s summer anthem Fighting Bull and are both taken from the forthcoming full length album which is due out 2014.
Losing Faith is an upbeat reggae banger with a melancholic twist. Featuring funky horns, ska infused beats and the pumping bass that BackBeat have become renowned for, the track also has a more delicate edge brought from Dean’s emotive vocal pondering life’s frustrations and the feelings of |losing faith that often come with them.
The band has also made a video to accompany the track, shot by Resolve Film at various locations around St Austell and features keyboard playing in the sea, drums on an Aqueduct and smoke grenades in the woods. To see the video head over to the band’s facebook page facebook.com/backbeatsoundsystem “We will also be putting on a special big one off show at the end of November showcasing all the new tracks.” Details are still being confirmed on the where and when but keep an eye on facebook.com/backbeatsoundsystem for the latest details.
