Half a ton of lead stolen from Truro

Police in Truro are investigating the theft of nearly half a ton of lead from an industrial site in the city.

Thieves broke into a compound before damaging a fence in order to steal their 580-kilogram haul, which is worth around £1,300.

The theft is believed to have taken place at some point between last Saturday and Tuesday.

Owners of scrap metal are advised to take steps to make it harder for thieves to steal.

Police have today appealed for anyone with information regarding the theft is asked to contact them on 08452 777444 quoting crime reference number GT/08/1027.

Information may also be passed to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but 580kg is MORE than half a tonne, isn't it?
