Willand waste put to good use
WILLAND'S Community Composting Scheme is giving £250 to the local youth club extension fund.
A small band of happy volunteers work in all weathers at the site off Willand Moor Road, to turn Willand household garden waste into good compost.
The compost is sold' for donations of £1 per 25kg bag, and enriches the soil of Willand's gardens, with the profits used to benefit the local community.
Youth club secretary Julie Lester was delighted with the donation which brings the total promised towards the much needed extension to £45,000.
She said "Over 60 regular members attend the youth club every week. A donation such as this will help to enhance a specific area, which the new extension will allow to be created. All donations are gratefully received."
Composting scheme chairman Peter Fosberry said: "We are pleased that not only are we reducing Willand's carbon footprint but we are contributing to worthwhile local causes too.
"With the composting facility becoming busier we are always looking for additional volunteers to help.
