Free timed tickets for the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition at the Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro are now available from the Hall for Cornwall box office.

Celebrating the sixtieth birthday of HRH The Prince of Wales, the exhibition of ten drawings from the Royal Collection will run at the museum from 9 May to 26 July. Since demand for this unique opportunity to see the works of one of the world's most famous artists is likely to be very high, visitors are encouraged to book their tickets as soon as possible. A small booking fee applies.

Leonardo da Vinci, who lived from 1452 to 1519, was the archetypal Renaissance man'. Not only a legendary artist, he was also accomplished in sculpture, architecture, music, anatomy, engineering, cartography, geology and botany.

His drawings are considered to be the richest, most wide-ranging, technically brilliant and most endlessly fascinating of any artist. The exhibition selection includes: A Portrait of a Young Woman, A Skull Sectioned, Two Grotesque Profiles, A Scene in an Arsenal, A Map of The Arno East of Florence, A Branched Bur-Reed, Sketches for an Equestrian Monument, A Study of Drapery, A Design for a Dragon Costume and A Deluge.

One of the drawings, A Map of The Arno East of Florence, has never been seen in public before.

This is a unique and tremendously exciting exhibition which we feel very honoured to be launching as part of HRH The Prince of Wales' sixtieth birthday celebrations,' said the museum's director Hilary Bracegirdle. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see this extraordinary collection of drawings in the South West and I urge everyone to book their free tickets as soon as possible.' A wide range of related events and learning activities has been organised to accompany the exhibition. These include lectures by Martin Clayton, Deputy Curator of the Print Room, Royal Library, Windsor Castle, Donato Esposito, Curator at Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery and David Phillips, formerly a senior lecturer in Museum and Art Gallery Postgraduate Studies at Manchester University.
