Missing cat appeal

| Rocky the cat |
A DISTRAUGHT Chard mother is appealing for information after her cat, who suffered massive injuries in a vicious attack last year, has gone missing.
Marie White, who lives in the Mintons with her children, has been desperately searching for nine-month-old Rocky since Good Friday and fears that he will become sick without being given vital medication.
In November the News reported how the family cat was left fighting for his life after being shot with an air rifle.
He was rushed to the Kingfisher Veterinary Practice in Chard where he underwent an emergency operation to remove the pellet and nine inches of his intestines.
Despite making a good recovery, Rocky relies on a watered-down down diet and daily medicine to stay healthy and rarely ventures out of the house.
Marie said: "It is so unlike Rocky to wander off on his own, since the attack he has become a real house cat.
"We have a cat flap but he never uses it, the only time he will go into the garden is if someone else is out there."
She continued: "The only thing I can think of is that he followed one of the children down the road and couldn't find his way back."
As soon as she realised he was lost, Marie contacted all the nearby veterinary practices in the hope of finding him.
"I have called the RSPCA and the Cat's Protection League but was told there was nothing they could do," she said.
"I've also put posters up around the area and leaflets through people's letterboxes but nobody has come forward."
Rocky is black and white with a distinctive mark on his face and was wearing a collar at the time of his disappearance.
Anyone with information should contact Marie on 01460-239976 or the newsroom on 01460-238180.
