FOUR members of South Somerset District Council's licensing team are going to need all the energy they can muster later this year when they tackle an arduous challenge.
Gill Barnwell, Rachel Lloyd, Julia Bradburn and Nigel Marston will be attempting to walk 100km on July 20 over the South Downs in just 30 hours to raise funds for Oxfam and the Gurkha Trust.
They are hoping to raise £3,000 from their efforts in the Trailwalker hike and have so far just passed the £2,000 mark, so they are well on their way - but they still need your support.
The group, who have called themselves the South Somerset Stompers, have organised a dress down day' at the council offices on April 1 where staff have been invited to come to work dressed country style' as long they make a donation to the fund-raising.
They have set up their dedicated fund-raising website page at www.justgiving.com/southsomerset where people can pledge their donations on-line.
Nigel said: "I would urge people to dig deep and sponsor us whilst we undertake this challenge in which we will be walking day and night covering the distance of two-and-a-half marathons."
Money raised during Trailwalker goes to Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust to fund their work tackling poverty and suffering; giving hope of a better, more secure future to poor people and their communities. Oxfam works all over the world; GWT works specifically in Gurkha communities in Nepal.
