A TRIO of Bridgwater College students have successfully secured funding from film, television and digital media professionals South-West Screen.
The students - Jeremy DeCoursey, Samantha Curry and Keith Eccles - have been accepted onto a scheme which helps finance extra training for promising media students.
The group's Tor Development Programme is an opportunity for young people and professionals working in the media to receive funding to create a professional product.
The three successful students now have the chance to take part in workshops in scriptwriting, editing and animation at media sites around the South West.
They will be able to access specialist professional equipment not usually available in colleges, and on completion of the workshops, will receive funding to do with what they wish.
It could be used to hire industry professionals such as editors or directors to come and talk at the College, or to create a short film, or even to set up a film screening or website.
Their course tutor, Alan Hardcastle, said: "This is very exciting. These funds will help with creating new and exciting experiences that all the students on the course will benefit from.
"It also means that we are able to really stretch the more advanced students in a professional, real world environment."
